About Introduction to Somatic Experiencing® 2-day Workshop

Egypt School of Somatics organizes Somatic Experiencing Introduction Workshop in Cairo, Egypt.

 This introductory workshop will provide a theoretical and practical overview of the SE model. Combining both theory and experiential exercises, including group practice, individual skill building, and teacher demonstrations, to cover the following topics: 

  • Defining trauma from an SE perspective 

  • How SE differs from other forms of therapy 

  • The key concepts and foundational principles of SE 

  • An introduction to the Autonomic Nervous System and the physiology of trauma 

  • Resilience and self-regulation 

This workshop is prerequisite for the 3-year program of Somatic Experiencing. (No exceptions)

Date: 8 & 9 February 2023

Time: 4:00 - 9:00 PM (Cairo time) - convert it to your timezone

Location: Online (on Zoom)

Language of the workshop: English with Arabic translation

*A lot of the spots were pre-booked, and we are not planning to have any other introductory workshop before starting the next Cairo Cohort training. If you are willing to join Cairo Cohort (starts March 2023, this is your last chance to complete your pre-requisite introductory workshop requirement).

About the Instructor

Mahshid Hager

(Pronounced: Mah-sheed)

Mahshid is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California and a Somatic Experiencing® practitioner. After earning her undergraduate degree in Psychology, she received her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University.  She began her career working for non-profit organizations in San Diego County, offering therapeutic services to school-aged children and their families. She has been in private practice since 2014.

Following licensure, Mahshid studied the work of Dr. Peter Levine and became certified in his Somatic Experiencing® approach, a body-based naturalistic approach to healing trauma. Mahshid is currently on the Faculty Track at Somatic Experiencing International and aspires to teach this modality to a broad range of helping professionals.
