About Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner Training (3-years)
Somatic Experiencing® is a body oriented therapeutic modality developed over the last 50 years by Dr. Peter Levine, to treat unresolved trauma.
SE® addresses subcortical regions of the brain not easily accessed through talk therapy
SE® supports safety and co-regulation in the nervous system
SE® focuses on how the body influences thoughts, behaviors, and emotions
SE® helps people develop awareness of physical sensations and procedural memories
SE® targets the underlying dysregulation that maintains symptoms
SE® gives tools for greater control over symptoms and unconscious dynamics
A Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP) training provides:
A framework to access where a person is stuck in fight/flight/freeze responses.
Clinical tools to resolve fixed states, transform old patterns and strengthen resiliency.
Objectives:
The basic tool kit of SE comprises resourcing; orienting; accessing the felt sense; tracking; integrating.
By the end of the 3 years professional training, the practitioner will be able to use these skills to:
Help clients navigate their trauma safely and at their own pace in such a way that incomplete responses can be completed and discharged.
Educate clients in the physiology of their trauma responses to help them harness their own innate intelligence and resilience
Equip clients with their own practical skills for self-regulation
Scientific Research:
Random controlled outcome research in neuroscience and psychology support the scientific foundations on which SE is built, and confirm its effectiveness for both short-term symptom relief and long-term resolution and treatment (see list for further reading below).

The first Cohort training tuition didn’t cover instructor fees, senior assistants fees, their accommodation, or their flights.
For the second cohort, teachers and senior assistants were very generous to offer the training free of charge. We are grateful for them, as their initiative and generosity are the reasons we now have an Arabic Egyptian community for the SE® in Egypt and the MENA region.
In the coming cohort, tuition fees may increase due to inflation but they still cover a fraction of the expenses for instructors and senior assistants who are generously giving us much lower rates to support our SE rising Egyptian community.
