About Introduction to Somatic Experiencing® 2-day Workshop

Egypt School of Somatics organizes Somatic Experiencing Introduction Workshop in Cairo, Egypt.

This introductory workshop will provide a theoretical and practical overview of the SE model. Combining both theory and experiential exercises, including group practice, individual skill building, and teacher demonstrations, to cover the following topics: 

  • Defining trauma from an SE perspective 

  • How SE differs from other forms of therapy 

  • The key concepts and foundational principles of SE 

  • An Introduction to the Autonomic Nervous System and the Physiology of trauma 

  • Resilience and self-regulation 

This workshop is prerequisite for the 3-year program of Somatic Experiencing. (No exceptions)

Date: 15 and 16 Feb, 2026

Time: 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm (Cairo time)

Location: ZOOM (online)

There is no deadline to register for this workshop, BUT SEATS ARE LIMITED.

Please note there will be consecutive sentence by sentence translation from English to Arabic in the same zoom room; translation will not be in separate room or on a separate audio channel and that the event depends strongly on your presence and will not be recorded nor shared later.

About the Instructor

Kari Elise Slinning

SEP, MSc

Kari Elise Slinning is a Gestalt Psychotherapist and Somatic Experiencing (SE) Practitioner.

Originally from Norway, she currently lives in Stockholm, Sweden – her home for over 30 years. She is a mother of 3 children. Before turning to Gestalt Therapy in 1999, Kari had a career as a classical musician—first as a violinist, then as an orchestra conductor—working in professional orchestras around Scandinavia.

Her personal therapeutic journey inspired a career change – her Masters’ degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy “Free from Bulimia Nervosa” was a phenomenological study based on interviews with people on their recovery process from eating disorders.

Kari has worked in psychiatric settings and led support groups for families affected by eating disorders. She served as Operations Manager for the Swedish National Association for Eating Disorders (2009-2015). She currently works as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in her private practice in Stockholm.

Since completing her Somatic Experiencing® training in 2012, Kari integrated SE into her Psychotherapy practice and has been active in the SE community: she assisted at numerous SE-trainings across Europe, in India and South Africa; co-founded the Swedish SE-Association in 2013; and for several years served as the Chair of the Board of the European Association for Somatic Experiencing (EASE).

  • Yes. The only prerequisite for applying for the 3-year program is the 2-day introductory workshop.

  • The 3-year program is scheduled to start in 2026, we are in negotiations and arrangements for the confirmed dates. Once the schedule of the 3-year program is settled, we will send out the information to all introductory workshop students and we will post the opening of the application for the 3 year program on our website and social media pages.

  • Yes. Of course. The introductory 2-day workshop is open for everyone. It offers a deeper understanding of the nervous system and trauma.
