About Introduction to Somatic Experiencing® 2-day Workshop
Egypt School of Somatics is organizing two Somatic Experiencing Introduction Workshops in May and July before the beginning of the 3-year program in September 2026.
This introductory workshop will provide a theoretical and practical overview of the SE model. Combining both theory and experiential exercises, including group practice, individual skill building, and teacher demonstrations, to cover the following topics:
Defining trauma from an SE perspective
How SE differs from other forms of therapy
The key concepts and foundational principles of SE
An Introduction to the Autonomic Nervous System and the Physiology of trauma
Resilience and self-regulation
SE Intro workshop in May 2026
This workshop is prerequisite for the 3-year program of Somatic Experiencing. (No exceptions)

About the Instructor
Paula Mattoli, SEP
Paula Mattoli has worked with somatically oriented therapies since 1995. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she draws from a foundation in Fine Arts and Linguistics to create a deeply integrative approach to the body and human experience. Fluent in Portuguese, Italian, and English, and conversant in Spanish and French, Paula teaches and facilitates internationally across Europe, Asia, and South America.
She is part of the Rolfing® and Rolfing Movement® Faculty Team, a MatrixWorks® Group Facilitator, and a Senior Assistant and Instructor in Training for Somatic Experiencing International (SEI). Her work is guided by a psychobiological understanding of how experience is shaped in and through the body, and an ongoing inquiry into what she calls “the art of somatic listening.”
In her continued studies, Paula has trained in ISP (Raja Selvam), Bodynamic (Lisbeth Marcher), NLP, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, and completed workshops with Ale Duarte. Her curiosity extends to philosophy and literature, having participated in study groups on Deleuze and Guattari and engaged deeply with modern Brazilian writers.
Paula believes that behind every life experience lies a distinctive body organization—a form of somatic communication that expresses our living process, whether heard or unspoken.

About the Instructor
Dennis Moorman, SEP
Dennis Moorman is a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner since 2010. He is also trained as a Systemic Family Constellation facilitator. He currently serves as an assistant and a supervisor for those training to become professional Somatic Experiencing® Practitioners.
Dennis has a Bachelor of Science degree in Soil and Crop Science and a Master of Science degree in Plant Physiology as well as a Master of Divinity degree.
He currently lives in São Paulo, Brazil where he works with clients individually in-person and virtually. He has worked in sixteen countries throughout the world in Africa, Asia and the Americas helping people to learn to renegotiate the negative effects of trauma in their lives.
Originally from southeastern Indiana, USA where he was born and raised in the countryside, Dennis has a special interest in helping people to heal the effects of generational trauma in their lives. He enjoys training Aikido, which is a Japanese martial art based on non-violence.

Yes of course. This is open for all Arabic-speaking people from the Arab world, since this training is translated into Arabic in real time.

Yes. The only prerequisite for applying for the 3-year program is the 2-day introductory workshop. As well as filling the application and completing payment as soon as possible to secure your spot.

The 3-year program is scheduled to start in September 2026. The deadline for submitting your application for the 3 year training is June 15, 2026. The deadline for completing the payment is August 7, 2026.

Yes. Of course. The introductory 2-day workshop is open for everyone. It offers a deeper understanding of the nervous system and trauma. You will also get a certificate for attending the 2-day introductory workshop.
